lichen booties

there is some seriously cute stuff in debbie stoller’s second knitting book, stitch ‘n bitch nation, but these booties (”one hour baby booties”, designed by heidi neurauter) are probably the quickest to make. okay, the booties pictured above aren’t exactly the same as the pattern (i decided against the little strap and button, and the yarn i used was very different) but the basic shape is the same.

i think these took a little more than an hour in total – wrestling with increases with bulky yarn on plastic needles is hard work – but they took less than an evening. and they’re so cute! i just hope they’re big enough for the recipient.

i bought heaps of this yarn from trade me, and can’t wait to use it for other stuff. it’s “sheba” by sirdar, and is 100% acrylic. the colour is “lichen”.
